When an Oklahoma man discovered that an older man was sexting his 16-year-old daughter, he turned over the evidence he’d accumulated to the police.
But he didn’t sit around and wait for law enforcement to act — the Del City man set up his own sting operation and caught the 33-year-old pervert.
And all the action was captured on surveillance footage when the entire family got in on the act to bring the attempted perp to justice.
“The family took it upon themselves to pretend to be her and invite the suspect to the house to meet her in the backyard in a tent for the purpose of having sex,” Major Jody Suit, with the Del City Police Department, told KOCO News 5. “Just before he enters the tent, the father and three family members … tackle him and zip tie his hands and feet and hold him until the police get there.”
The father discovered through the use of a computer application that the two were exchanging photographs.
“The pictures were being sent back and forth, and sexual behavior, or at least sexual acts, virally were occurring,” Suit said.
Because the father wanted to avoid the possibility of things going further, he lured the man on to his property, setting up a meeting in a tent erected in the back yard. Another woman was waiting inside the tent while the daughter was inside the home unaware of what was going on.
Local law enforcement told the station that they don’t normally recommend that civilians take such action on their own, but they nonetheless understood.
“But as a parent, I don’t blame him,” Suit said. “I think it’s your right to protect your children.”
