Chelsea Clinton whines about Bannon’s ‘fat shaming,’ then frets over obesity epidemic in US

Chelsea Clinton said “we must do more” to combat the mounting global obesity epidemic Tuesday after denouncing White House chief strategist Steve Bannon for “fat shaming.”

Clinton took the issue of obesity head-on, chiding society for not doing more to “to prevent and combat obesity,” which she said is causing a global “crisis.” The comments came after Clinton spent Tuesday morning defending White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer against supposed body shaming from peers.

Clinton rushed to the defense of Spicer after she thought Bannon fat shamed him in a text to a reporter. Bannon commented to The Atlantic Tuesday morning that Spicer was doing more off-camera briefings in recent weeks because he “got fatter.”

The former first daughter doubled-down in denouncing body shaming after observers pointed out Bannon was likely joking in his remarks. Others suggested she find a sense of humor.

Clinton’s comments come on the heels of repeated attempts by liberal politicians to curb the obesity epidemic with measures to control consumption through legislation like soda taxes while simultaneously promoting body positivity.
