Megyn Kelly should’ve known it was coming.
Three days before the official release of NBC host Megyn Kelly’s interview with conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, the InfoWars creator released a portion of a secretly-recorded audio clip from that interview.
He promised to release the entire audio before NBC’s broadcast.
“I’ve never done this in 22 years, I’ve never recorded another journalist,” Jones said in a Twitter video. “I’ve never done this, but I knew that it was a fraud, that it was a lie.”
Kelly can be heard saying on the audio that the interview will be fairly edited.
“It’s not going to be some gotcha hit piece,” she said. “I can promise you that.”
Jones played a few more short portions of the audio.
“What are they going to do, when I’ve got the tapes of what really happened?” he asked, adding the former Fox News host was “obsessed with him.”

Jones is what’s been termed a 9/11 truther, claiming that the terrorist attack that brought down the World Trade Center’s twin towers in 2001 was an inside job.
Even more outrageously, he alleged that the massacre at the Sandy Hook Elementary School never happened, and the grieving parents are nothing more than actors playing a role. Jones has since softened his stance, claiming it’s his job to “question everything.”
Jones says the interview with Kelly didn’t portray that, and instead made him look like a Sandy Hook conspiracy theorist.

This is what happens when giving someone like Jones a platform. It ceases to be journalism and becomes a circus act. https://t.co/Uioc0GcY5Z

Others agreed and said NBC News did nothing other than elevate Jones. He didn’t see much support for his announcement:

1. Have your own recording of the interview
2. Claim Kelly mistreated you
3. Use (2) to justify releasing it before NBC
4. Infowars profits https://t.co/LywlLHYrfz

And as for Jones’ denial of the Sandy Hook massacre, one observed:
Still waiting for Alex Jones to label VA baseball shooting a ‘false flag op’ by the Alt-Right to discredit Dems. All I hear is crickets…

Because of Jones’ Sandy Hook denials, Kelly has been fired from hosting an upcoming charity event honoring the Sandy Hook victims and their families.
