Actor Mark Ruffalo is adding his name to a petition to halt the “white conservative hiring spree” at MSNBC.
The network’s addition of Greta Van Susteren to a lineup including Nicole Wallace, George Will, Hugh Hewitt and event he return of Brian WIlliams sent some liberal viewers into a scramble to call out NBC.
Mark Ruffalo in hulk rage at NBC, pushes petition to end ‘white conservative hiring’ https://t.co/pmO0IhGVPE

The petition demanding that MSNBC not “promote right-wing hate” is nearing its 200,000 signature goal and the “Avengers” actor thought to give it a boost.
— Mark Ruffalo (@MarkRuffalo) June 10, 2017
“The man in charge of MSNBC has made it clear that he wants to make the network whiter and more conservative – even though the ratings of progressive shows are skyrocketing,” the petition states, adding that Andrew Lack, chairman of NBC News and MSNBC, is trying to make them more “centrist.”
The petition demanded the network stop “hiring extreme right TV personalities and pushing out progressive and Black and Brown voices.”
— Ryan_McKendry (@Mayhem_138) June 10, 2017
“After President Obama won in 2008, FOX News did not hire dozens of progressive, female, Black and Brown, young TV personalities in order to speak to the Obama coalition,” it stated. “So why on earth is MSNBC pushing out Black and Brown voices and filling its network with hard-line extreme conservatives?”
Ruffalo’s tweet seemed to have unintentionally backfired as Twitter users blasted the actor for “not making a lot of sense.”
Used to like him as an actor. But I’m done with liberal Hollywood. They are hypocrites.

Mark only wants to hear one side. Just plug your ears & close your eyes mark, you can get through this
— Daniel (@danielwesley0) June 13, 2017
Not making a lot of sense, Mark.
— K. Wade (@Kwade79) June 10, 2017
And support regressive leftists? No thanks. But I’m glad you are showing your true colors by trying to silence those holding different views.
— ?Derek? (@_dsDerek) June 10, 2017
Im going to start a petition for hollywood to stop hiring white liberal men.
— House King (@AndrewKing06) June 13, 2017
Condemning the move of Joy Reid and Al Sharpton to the weekends, replacing them with “beltway hacks,” the petition organizers claimed Rachel Maddow, Chris Hayes, and Lawrence O’Donnell are leading MSNBC in a ratings win against Fox News and the network needs to wake up.
The petition even referred to President Trump as a “racist sexual predator” and warned of “sharp backlash” if the hiring trend did not stop.
While many on the left blindly sided with Ruffalo and likely signed the petition as a reflex, plenty of Twitter users blasted the actor’s tweet and the petition itself.

Diversity and tolerance apparently not part of the Hulk’s platform.

Absolutely.I hven’t gone to a Marvel movie ever since the idiot actors did the anti-American videos to influence real Americans how to vote.
— ambi❤ (@mbae_enthusiast) June 12, 2017
Replace “white” with any other ethnic group to understand how racist this tweet is.
— Stephen Barber (@doc429) June 11, 2017
How about hiring the best talent and not judging by people’s skin color which by the way is the very definition of RACISM.
— Mz. J. (@Jackie_Blue_CA) June 12, 2017
What the hell are you talking about? Are black Conservatives OK? Asian Conservatives? Do they have to be liberal? This could get complicated.
— Troy Kuhn (@Tachyon362) June 11, 2017
Imagine a petition telling anyone not to hire black liberals.
Explain how your racist posting isn’t discrimination due to a skin color.
— greybeard (@greybeard411) June 12, 2017
So you’re o.k. with conservatives of any other color. Just the white ones you have problems with. Libs never cease to amaze.
— CDB (@quietnolonger) June 10, 2017
Yeah! NBC should hire more black conservatives so liberals can call them “Uncle Toms” like usual!
