Gohmert calls for serious legal consequences for DOJ misconduct relating to Comey

The real election conspiracy began with former Attorney General Loretta Lynch, per Rep. Louis Gohmert

While lawmakers are intent upon finding collusion between President Donald Trump‘s campaign and the Russian government, the real conspiracy — right beneath the noses of everyone –is being ignored.

That’s the belief of Rep. Louie Gohmert, who said that it’s brewing within the walls of the Justice Department, designed to bring down the president’s administration.

“We have a conspiracy remaining afoot in the Department of Justice that is out to destroy this president and they’ve got to be fired, if not worse,” the Texas Republican said Sunday on Fox News.

Gohmert said that the effort began even before Trump was elected — when former Attorney General Loretta Lynch directed then-FBI Director James Comey to refer the agency’s criminal investigation against Hillary Clinton — Trump’s Democratic rival — as a “matter.”

“At best, it was an attempt to manipulate the election — not by the Russians in this case, but by the Department of Justice and the attorney general herself,” he said. “You have the attorney general herself basically telling him to lie.”

When Comey disclosed Lynch’s instructions, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi dismissed it as being nothing. “Matter, investigation, I don’t know that that’s such a big deal,” the California Democrat said.

“When [Comey] said that the president lied about him — and he used the L-word — Comey was lying.” Gohmert continued. “How do we know? Look at all of the things he said. That was ridiculous to not have done a memo, and then I heard him say he had done the memo and then he talked with some of his colleagues.”

Gohmert called for serious legal consequences for Justice Department officials Comey talked to regarding the memos.

“We need to round up everybody he talked to, because they were all conspiring against the president, and all conspiring against their oath of office … and their own employment agreement,” he concluded.

He found it outrageous that Comey apparently lied about the president and not turning in all his notes while FBI director, “and then he’s not troubled when the attorney general tells him yo lie about what he’s doing.”

Gohmert enjoys support across the aisle from liberal Sen. Dianne Feinstein. The California Democrat called for a probe into Lynch’s activities, which apparently provided a cover for Clinton.
