“Best response ever!”

Secretary of Defense James Mattis showed a bit of what led to his “Mad Dog” moniker during a CBS News interview that aired on “Face the Nation” Sunday.

After discussing a string of threats facing the United States, host John Dickerson asked the former Marine Corps general what kept him awake at night.

“Nothing,” Mattis replied without hesitating so much as a second. “I keep other people awake at night.”

The response earned a smile from the CBS News host, and a mountain of praise on social media.
