Walt Disney World reportedly looks to silence President Trump in Hall of Presidents exhibit

Rumors are flying that the Hall of Presidents at Florida’s Disney World is changing its format to prevent the robot President Donald Trump from speaking.

That’s the word according to an anonymous member of the Disney cast who spoke to Motherboard about the situation in a piece titled, “Here’s the secret backstage Trump drama at Walt Disney World’s Hall of Presidents.”

The source said that the show will go back to its pre-1993 format where only former Presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln speak.

Since that time the show has included some words from the current sitting president but, the source said, that’s all about to change because of President Trump’s bombastic speaking style.

“Given how polarizing the president is right now, Disney Parks & Resorts is currently trying to find [a solution] that approaches middle ground,” the source said. “They want to include our 45th commander-in-chief in this 45-year-old theme park attraction, while at the same time, not seem to endorse or support some of Trump’s more controversial policies.”

“Given President Trump’s current problems,” the source added. “Walt Disney World might elect to push the attraction’s opening date back to the fall and then make further tweaks to the show.”

But it is not only the president’s polarization, but his lack of care about the exhibit that is a contributing factor.

“That’s a part of this—just getting time with him [to record],” the source told Motherboard. “I guess there’s also been some back-and-forth on his proposed script, which is something they’re hoping to use as a ‘Get Out of Jail Free’ card. If he’s not available to record, they can use that as a legitimate excuse… that’s kind of what Disney’s hoping for.”

According to the report Disney has been attempting to get the president to record since January.

It was also Disney’s shortsightedness that got in the way as they were convinced they’d be adding President Hillary Clinton.

“They were convinced that Hillary was going to win,” said the alleged. “They were having conversations in late October and early November on how to dress her. ‘Should it be the pantsuit she wore at the [Democratic] National Convention? Or should it be a darker color?’ They were thinking along those lines. No one was giving any serious thought to it being Trump.”

The silencing of the Trump robot could also be due to public pressure, as a petition circulated online to silence the bot gained more than 13,000 signatures.
