‘At least there’s hope now’: ‘Pawn Star’ Rick Harrison says Obama era made running his business a ‘nightmare’

Gold and Silver Pawn Shop owner Rick Harrison is glad former President Obama is out of office because his administration made business in the U.S. today a “nightmare.”

“The effect of the eight years of Obama is finally showing up,” the star of History Channel’s “Pawn Stars” told the FOX Business Network.

“We had .7 GDP [growth]…in the last quarter and if you figure GDP the way we did four years ago, that would be negative growth. Four years ago…they decided all R&D suddenly goes into the plus column instead of the expense column and…it was a way the administration actually boosted up GDP,” Harrison told host Maria Bartiromo.

“Just make it easy to do business and people will do business in this country,” the entrepreneur and multi-business owner said, adding “Right now it’s literally a nightmare.”

The reality star endorsed President Trump in the election and thinks he is doing a good job right now despite what the media has been reporting. He hoped the president would follow through on his promises of tax reform, as well as ending stifling regulations and Obamacare that make running his businesses more challenging.

“It’s death by a thousand cuts — just my pawn business,” the Las Vegas-based businessman said.

“The Obama administration made it illegal for me to loan any money to anyone in the military. I have one compliance guy just for a pawn shop. It’s everything from Homeland Security, FBI, the local police department, IRS – all these regulations I have to keep an eye on constantly and it’s just overwhelming for a small business,” he said.

“Government’s the problem,” Harrison concluded, but is optimistic that Trump will help his business and the country.

“At least there’s hope now,” he said.
