New Orleans mayor rips down Confederate statues, gives most insanely liberal reason you may ever hear

Liberal New Orleans mayor Mitch Landrieu’s sole political ambition isn’t reducing crime or bringing jobs to his city, or at least it doesn’t seem to be.

Instead, the pale-skinned Landrieu wants to do something his four African-American predecessors didn’t even pursue as their top policy agenda – remove the four ‘evil’ Confederate monuments that are, apparently, at fault for people fleeing the city.

That’s right, when asked about his city’s costs to remove the monuments, Mayor Landrieu responded with what could arguably go down in history as one of the most patently ridiculous statements from any American politician in the history of our nation.

“I will say this for the people that are interested in the costs,” said Landrieu. “The cultural, economic, and spiritual loss to the city for having those statues up that have run people out of the city. The great migration that sent some of our best and brightest to place across the country that we don’t have the benefit of has been incredible.”

Seriously, Mitch? So, people are literally fleeing the city because of Confederate monuments?

Seems odd… Why not consider the following reasons why people could be leaving, as provided by The Hayride:

Crime rates which has made the city one of the most dangerous in the world
Streets that are nearly impossible to drive on
Terrible infrastructure in general
Public schools that trapped generations in a school to prison pipeline
Lack of employment opportunities for professionals
Third world levels of political corruption
An overall poor quality of life in the city and surrounding areas

So, according to the mayor none of those things, all of which he actually has responsibility for, are causing people to flee. Instead, perhaps these statues come to life and roam the streets, Godzilla-style, at night. (I mean, if I saw a 10-foot statue of General P.G.T. Beauregard on horseback galloping towards me I’d be fleeing the city too!)

Instead of being at kept in a warehouse like Landrieu promised, the four monuments, statues of Confederate Gen. P.G.T. Beauregard, Confederate States of America President Jefferson Davis and Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee, as well as the Liberty Monument, were spotted at a city maintenance yard next to piles of trash.
