A Michigan voter leveled a wake up call to Republicans and offered heartfelt encouragement for President Trump following the challenging week he has had.
Wil DeOrsey Jr. is a lifelong Republican and endured the ridicule of family and friends for his support of Trump, so he is especially disturbed by the events unfolding around the president recently.
“Don’t try to win over the people who don’t support you,” DeOrsey advised Trump as he spoke to Fox News Channel’s Pete Hegseth Friday from the 3 Sons Diner in Warren, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit.
“They’re never gonna support you. There’s nothing you can do to please them. Remember: the people who elected you are still strongly behind you,” DeOrsey continued. “We have your back.”
He urged the president to “move forward” with his campaign promises.
“Do the things you said you were going to do and we’re all going to be great together,” DeOrsey said.
He admitted his usually blue state was not an easy one to be in as a Trump supporter, as he spent the campaign season knocking on doors and observing at polling places to drum up votes for his candidate. DeOrsey said he was even kicked out of his own barbershop for his pro-Trump stand.
Trump ended up defeating Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in the state and becoming the first Republican to carry Michigan since George H.W. Bush in 1988.
DeOrsey had a simple and blunt message for Republicans in Congress not doing enough for Trump in the wake of relentless attacks by Democrats and critics.
“My God! Stand up and support our president!” DeOrsey exclaimed. “This is our party. You guys are silent.”
Democrats blast the president and the GOP at every turn and use every avenue to spread their narrative, he noted, complaining that Republicans are not nearly as aggressive.
“The Republican supporters voted for Donald Trump. You’re obligated to support Donald Trump,” he said.
Other diners in the restaurant agreed and offered their support for Trump as well.
