It’s “petulant payback time” for fired FBI Director James Comey.
That’s how LifeZette editor Laura Ingraham characterized the illegal FBI leaks to the mainstream media following Comey’s dismissal last week.
In another stunning breach of FBI protocol, an anonymous source told the New York Times that President Trump had asked Comey to stop the FBI investigation into fired National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.
This information allegedly came directly from James Comey’s internal memo chronicling a meeting he had with President Trump in February 2016. “I hope you can let this go,” Comey allegedly wrote in the internal memo, to which only he has access.

The White House denied that Trump had asked Comey to stop any investigation. Trump’s denial was supported by the sworn testimony of acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe, who told the Senate Intelligence Committee last week:
The work of the men and women of the FBI continues despite any changes in circumstance, any decisions. So there has been no effort to impede our investigation.
Comey was immediately slammed by many skeptical observers, who said if it’s true that the president had asked him to obstruct justice, he should have:
- Resigned in protest;
- Alerted Congress and the FBI of this unlawful request, or
- Held a press conference publicizing this damning information.
Instead, Comey remained silent, and this information only surfaced AFTER he was fired. Predictably, leftist CNN hack Jake Tapper immediately rushed to Comey’s defense.
Tapper claimed an anonymous source told him that Comey said nothing “because it wasn’t a very successful effort and he thought he’d pushed back on it.”

Meanwhile, a “source” told CNN that Comey was not required to inform other parts of the Justice Department about Trump’s alleged request to obstruct justice. The “source” also promised that there are other internal memos that will be leaked soon.
Idaho Senator Jim Risch, a member of the Senate intelligence committee, called the mainstream media’s anti-Trump allegations absurd and unbelievable. “If somebody came to me and asked me to squelch an investigation, I’d have been screaming bloody murder about it,” Risch told Fox News.
Risch said the only person who has committed a crime is the “weasel” who leaked classified information to liberal media outlets New York Times, the Washington Post and CNN, which clearly have an agenda to undermine Trump.

“There’s a weasel here, and the weasel is not the president of the United States,” Risch said. “It’s the traitor who disclosed this information.”
Meanwhile, Twitter rained down its disapproval and disgust on James Comey, whom many believe is a disgruntled former employee trying to bring down the president through illegal press leaks.
