Chick-fil-A doesn’t change its menu very often, but when it chooses to, it does so in a huge way.
The popular restaurant chain announced a new addition Monday, pairing its signature chicken with two items smack dab at the top of every red-blooded American’s food groups — barbecue and bacon.
Dubbing its new masterpiece the Smokehouse BBQ Bacon Sandwich, it features grilled chicken, Colby-Jack cheese, brown-sugar-and-pepper-glazed bacon, a new “Smokehouse BBQ” sauce, and a sweet, Hawaiian-style bun at a cost of $5.59.

“We know our customers love the flavors of our grilled menu, and we are excited to offer two items this season that will give them something new to try,” said David Farmer, Chick-fil-A vice president of menu strategy and development said in a company press release.
“The new Smokehouse BBQ Bacon Sandwich is delicious and unlike anything we have on the menu. It was incredibly popular in test markets. I hope our customers are as excited as I am to get this kind of high quality sandwich at the drive-thru,” Farmer said. “We hope customers will enjoy the new ingredients and flavor combinations in our Smokehouse BBQ Bacon Sandwich and Watermelon Mint Lemonade all summer long.”
The company included a photo of the sandwich in its deconstructed glory.
Chick-fil-A even developed a special drink to complement their new sandwich: The Watermelon Mint Lemonade, the name of which evokes thoughts of summer.
The company announced that the 500-calorie Smokehouse BBQ Bacon Sandwich will be a seasonal item, as will its watermelon mint lemonade. Both items will be available from May 22 until August 19. If successful, the restaurant chain will bring it back for the summer of 2018.
