Report says Trump’s considering Fox News’ Kimberly Guilfoyle to replace Spicer; mulling others from network

When a public vote of confidence for current Press Secretary Sean Spicer equates to either praise for his “ratings” or musings about doing away with press conferences altogether, one might begin to wonder when the actual firing could come.

The answer, of course, is anytime. Just ask James Comey.

So, who would Spicer’s replacement be should he find himself in the unemployment line? According to a report from the New York Times, that person could very well end up being Fox News’s Kimberly Guilfoyle.

Guilfoyle, one of the hosts of The Five, was in the running back in December, when she made as many as three visits to Trump Tower, but the position ended up going to Spicer.

According to the Times, “On Friday, Mr. Spicer prefaced much of what he said at the daily briefing with, ‘The president’s statement.’ And while Mr. Trump has raised the Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle to allies as a possible press secretary, he has spent several hours with Mr. Spicer this week, praising his television ‘ratings’ during the briefings.”

While doing what many consider a fantastic job of bashing the media, who were and are sorely in need of such, Spicer has also had more than his fair share of gaffes, including last month’s comparison of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to Adolph Hitler.

It could also be that a fresh face wouldn’t necessarily reflect on Spicer himself as it would simply on the need for a change. And with the president vocally airing the possibility, that change could come anytime.

What’s more, according to a Saturday AP report, Guilfoyle may not be the only Fox News employee coming over to the Trump Administration. The report states that “Trump is mulling expanding the communications team and has eyed hiring producers from Fox News.”
