President Trump tells reporters directly the real reason he fired Comey

President Donald Trump is not one to mince words.

And on Wednesday he kept true to that theme when he told reporters the blunt truth about why FBI director James Comey was fired.

“Because he wasn’t doing a good job, very simply. He was not doing a good job,” he told reporters.

The president made the statement as reporters were gathered in the Oval Office to document his meeting with former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.

President Trump shook his head “no” when reporters asked him if the Comey firing had affected his meeting earlier in the day with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak.

They were the first comments the president spoke on the Comey firing, but he did tweet about it on Wednesday.
