Joe DiGenova, former U.S. attorney for the District of Columbiaw who served under President Reagan, described FBI Director James Comey as a “danger to the country” Wednesday.

“I got mildly nauseous today listening to [Comey’s] testimony one more time,” he said during his appearance on “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”
“When he held that news conference on July 5th and accused Hillary Clinton and then exonerated her, he violated every rule and regulation of the Department of Justice,” DiGenova told Fox News host Tucker Carlson.
“That July 5th news conference was the original sin,” he said, adding that the director “should have been fired that day.”
DiGenova said that by holding the news conference, “he usurped the function of prosecutors — he’s a cop.” He added that although Comey is a lawyer, his position is that of the FBI director — not a prosecutor.
“Give the evidence to the Department of Justice and let them decide,” he argued.
In DiGenova’s opinion, the only reason Comey wasn’t discharged was that then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch’s private meeting with former President Bill Clinton created her own legal quandary.
“The entire Department of Justice was so frightened of Jim Comey because of the way they had politically mishandled the Hillary Clinton email server investigation, that they were afraid to contradict him,” he said. “A pox on all of their houses!”
