‘Country needs a good shutdown’: Trump tries to explain why Dems got their way again, as faithful grow impatient

Kicking the can down the road or taking the bull by the horn?

With Democrats celebrating major concessions in a GOP spending bill that funds the federal government through September, President Donald Trump now looks ahead to the next budget fight.

….and he is threatening to “shutdown” the federal government if Senate Democrats continue to obstruct any hope of progress.

“Our country needs a good ‘shutdown’ in September to fix mess!” Trump tweeted on Tuesday morning.

The GOP spending bill funded Planned Parenthood and sanctuary cites, and secured nearly $5 billion in new domestic spending, according to The Washington Post. All of which prompted Trump to offer an explanation in a pair of tweets:

“The reason for the plan negotiated between the Republicans and Democrats is that we need 60 votes in the Senate which are not there! We…

“either elect more Republican Senators in 2018 or change the rules now to 51%. Our country needs a good ‘shutdown’ in September to fix mess!”

It’s not clear why a government shutdown in September is preferable to a shutdown today.

Nonetheless, Democrats are sure to employ the same strategy in the fall, which was exploiting disagreements between Trump and Republican lawmakers over spending priorities, The Post reported.

“I think we had a strategy and it worked,” Schumer said.

The last time the federal government shut down was in October 2013, which lasted 16 days. The following year, in the 2014 election, the GOP not only retained control of the House, but regained the majority in the Senate.

Meanwhile, the faithful are growing impatient… as seen in a tweet from outspoken country music legend Charlie Daniels.

“[N]ever seen an organization that actually made an art out of gaining control and throwing it away like the Republicans,” he tweeted.

According to the reaction to Daniels’ tweet, social media users blame Congress more than they to Trump:
