Jake Tapper confirms from a reliable Native American source ‘Pocahontas’ Warren’s not a ‘Cherokee citizen’

CNN’s Jake Tapper has it from a reliable source that Sen. Elizabeth Warren is definitely “not a Cherokee citizen.”

Tapper tweeted the quote by a friend following President Trump’s reference to the Massachusetts Democrat as Pocahontas, an often repeated taunt by the president about Warren’s questionable self-proclaimed Native American heritage.

The president made his latest comment at a speech at the National Rifle Association convention on Friday, suggesting that Warren may end up as a Democratic candidate for president in 2020.

Tapper reported on Trump’s jab by referring to his use of the term as an “ethnic slur.”

Huffington Post’s Sam Stein, not surprisingly, appeared to agree with Tapper.

But if Democrats continue to champion Warren and eventually consider her for a presidential run, they will have to stop giving her a pass on her past.

Warren did not respond when HBO’s “Real Time” host Bill Maher joked with her in an interview Friday, telling the senator “They don’t like you, Pocahontas.”
