President Trump says the Obama-appointed federal judge who blocked his sanctuary city crackdown has the “blood of dead Americans” on his hands.
In a scathing statement, the White House said Judge William Orrick‘s decision to block Trump’s executive order to defund sanctuary cities is “a gift to criminal gangs and cartels.”
Trump said Orrick’s ruling is yet another example of “egregious overreach” by an unelected, activist judge:
Once again, a single district judge — this time in San Francisco — has ignored Federal immigration law to set a new immigration policy for the entire country. This decision occurred in the same sanctuary city that released the 5-time deported illegal immigrant who gunned down innocent Kate Steinle in her father’s arms.
San Francisco, and cities like it, are putting the well-being of criminal aliens before the safety of our citizens, and those city officials who authored these policies have the blood of dead Americans on their hands. This San Francisco judge’s erroneous ruling is a gift to the criminal gang and cartel element in our country, empowering the worst kind of human trafficking and sex trafficking, and putting thousands of innocent lives at risk.
It should come as no surprise that leftist Judge Orrick raised over $200,000 and personally donated $30,000 to support former President Obama.

The Department of Justice said Judge Orrick’s order is merely temporary. A fired-up Trump came out swinging against the 9th Circuit’s activist judges and threw down the gauntlet: “See you in the Supreme Court!”

The Trump administration has vowed to crack down on sanctuary cities, many of whom are harboring dangerous illegal aliens who commit felonies.
This year, the Department of Justice will award $4.1 billion in federal grants. That’s billions of dollars in taxpayer money going to cities and states that refuse to uphold federal immigration laws.

Shockingly, there are more than 200 sanctuary cities in the United States that ignore federal laws by refusing to prosecute illegal aliens or report them to immigration services. In a radical move, California is now pushing to make itself the first “sanctuary state.”
In 2015, Kate Steinle, 32, was gunned down by an illegal alien in sanctuary city San Francisco.
Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez — an illegal immigrant from Mexico who had previously been deported from the United States FIVE times — told officials he specifically returned to San Francisco because it was a sanctuary city.
