President Donald Trump got a favorable progress report from comedian Steve Harvey who said the president has kept his word on promises he made when the two met.
“As far as doing what he promised me he’d do, he’s doing it,” Harvey told a TMZ reporter Tuesday in Beverly Hills, Ca. when he was asked what kind of job he thought Trump was doing so far.
The “Family Feud” host shared that the president has been “keeping his word” to him following their post-election meeting which set plans to partner with Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Dr. Ben Carson to help America’s inner cities.
“I’m working with HUD. I’m going to get some housing for underprivileged people. We’re going to set up some centers around the country. I’ve met with HUD,” Harvey told TMZ “It’s going really well. God willing, it will work out.”
Harvey clarified he wasn’t happy with all of the things Trump was doing, but acknowledged that in the affordable housing initiative he was pleased with the progress.
“All I said was, he’s keeping his word to what he said he would do for me,” he laughed.
The 60 year-old television host caught a lot of heat as liberals had a meltdown following his January meeting at Trump Tower with the then-president-elect. Despite the insults and racist name calling hurled at Harvey, he declared Trump to be a “genuine person” and looked forward to being part of the team making a difference in the inner cities.
Harvey admitted that he liked working with Carson but joked that he would not make any further comment about the HUD Secretary recently getting trapped in an elevator in Miami.
