‘Assad is telling Trump ‘F-you’: Lindsey Graham eggs him on to ‘close the deal’

Former Never-Trumper Lindsey Graham gleefully hopped on the Trump Train after the president bombed a Syrian airfield last week.

Graham — who has been itching for the United States to enter another pointless war in the Middle East — said Syrian president Bashar al Assad needs to punished for allegedly breaking an international treaty banning the use of chemical weapons.

Senator Graham said by gassing civilian areas with sarin, Bashar al-Assad effectively told President Trump: “F-you.”

“Here’s what I think Assad is telling Trump: ‘F-you,” Graham said on Meet the Press. ”And I think he’s making a serious mistake, because if you are an adversary of the United States and you don’t worry about what Trump may do on any given day, you’re crazy!”

While Trump won the presidency by promising non-intervention in murky Middle Eastern politics, hawks like Lindsey Graham and John McCain (along with a motley crew of war-mongering Democrats) are urging Trump for regime change in Syria by inserting more U.S. ground troops. Thousands of American soldiers are already in Syria and Iraq to help regional forces fight ISIS:

You’ll never end the war with Assad in power. So that means regime change is now the policy of the Trump administration. That’s, at least, what I’ve heard.

So you need more American troops to accelerate the demise of ISIL. We’re relying too much on the Kurds. More American forces — 5,000 or 6,000 — would attract more regional fighters to destroy ISIL.

Graham also suggested that Trump should threaten the Russians.

“You need a safe haven quickly so people can regroup inside of Syria,” he said. “Then you train the opposition to go after Assad. That’s how he’s taken out — by his own people, with our efforts. And you tell the Russians, ‘If you continue to bomb the people we train, we’ll shoot you down.’”

Graham said he’s thrilled Trump bombed Syria, but he needs to be more aggressive. “I’m glad Trump did this,” Graham gushed. “He is no longer [like weak] Obama in the eyes of our enemies but he needs to do more to close the deal.”

Meanwhile, Twitter trashed Lindsey Graham as a reckless war monger who wants to start World War III.

One Twitter user said if NATO needs soldiers to fight Assad, they should send in all the young, able-bodied refugees hiding in Europe so more American blood isn’t spilled.
