‘The irony is palpable’: Secret Service agent on Pence’s detail suspended after tryst with hooker

The U.S. Secret Service seems to be caught up in a funk it just can’t get out of.

One embarrassing report after another, the Secret Service continues to prove that if any federal agency needs revamping, it’s at the top of the list. The latest indiscretion involves an agent on Vice President Mike Pence‘s detail being suspended after a rendezvous with a prostitute at a Maryland hotel, CNN reported.

The agent allegedly “self-reported” himself… AFTER being arrested!

After the prostitution scandal in Columbia that led to nine agents losing their jobs and two drunken agents crashing into a White House security barrier, smart money would say less partying.

…but that doesn’t seen to be the case.

The agent was busted when a hotel manager became suspicious of activity in one of the rooms and called police, according to CNN. The agent, who was off duty and didn’t identify himself as being with the Secret Service, was subsequently arrested and charged with solicitation.

An agency spokesperson told CNN the agent was required to surrender his weapon and official gear and was placed on administrative leave.

The reaction on social media was what you might expect, considering Pence was just in the news for stating that he would not have dinner alone with a woman other than his wife.

Here’s a sampling of responses from Twitter:
