Pelosi outdoes herself–and perhaps all Dems–with bizarre statement on Trump’s ‘stupid’ budget

A senior House member demonstrated Thursday why Democrats have little understanding of economics, and why they should never be placed in charge of a budget.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi described the Trump administration’s budget proposal, introduced Thursday, as “stupid” and then exhibited her own stupidity when she added that “nothing brings more money to the Treasury than education.”

The administration proposed to make significant cuts to numerous departments, agencies and programs, including $9.2 billion from the Department of Education, representing a 13.5 percent slice from last year, according to CNN.

At a press conference the California Democrat called the education cuts “stupid” and a “slap in the face.”

“Remember this: Nothing brings more money to the Treasury than investment in education,” she said. “So when the Republicans say, ‘We need to reduce the deficit, and therefore we must cut education,’ that is a stupid economy.”

“Again, nothing brings more money to the Treasury to reduce the deficit than the education of the American people,” she repeated.

The Department of Education wasn’t created until 1979, under then-President Jimmy Carter. It could be argued that it wasn’t until then that public education in the United States began faltering.

Also, offsetting the cut, the administration proposed spending $1.4 billion to expand vouchers so that students can attend non-public schools — including private schools, the Los Angeles Times reported.

But apparently liberals don’t want inner-city children to experience a private school education — they want to keep that just for their own kids.

President Obama fought the notion of a voucher program while sending his two daughters to a private school.
