The backlash is growing, and one of the targets of her abuse is not going to take it lying down.
Liberal show host Samantha Bee issued an apology of sorts after mocking young men for having “Nazi hair.” She would soon discover that one of her subjects was a cancer patient.
“Just last year, CPAC was dominated by Ted Cruz supporters and chirpy little [expletive] with bow ties,” the narrator in the segment on TBS’ “Full Frontal With Samantha Bee.”
“This year, the bow ties were gone and replaced by Nazi hair. Nazi hair. Nazi hair,” the narrator said as men with short haircuts were picked out.
Among those shown was Kyle Coddington, a writer for the political website “Outset” who was attending CPAC to report on the event.
Stephen Perkins, “Outset” editor-in-chief wrote in an op-ed on Thursday that Coddington “was diagnosed with stage four brain cancer and recently completed his first round of chemotherapy and radiation.”
Coddington tweeted the show and asked it to remove the piece.
@iamsambee ??? Please delete this episode. I look like a balding potato. pic.twitter.com/H77JEnFs88

@iamsambee Also, it’s not a Nazi haircut. Richard Spencer’s is, but mine’s from cancer. ??♂️??♂️

Bee’s show apologized to Coddington in a tweet and donated $1,000 to his GoFundMe campaign.
We deeply apologize for offending @_that_kyle in our CPAC segment. We only learned of his condition today & have removed him from the piece.

“We’ve apologized to Mr. Coddington and his family members and we are donating to the GoFundMe account for his treatment. We wish him all the best in his fight against cancer and sincerely, deeply regret offending him and his family,” “Full Frontal executive producer Jo Miller said in a statement to the New York Times.
Coddington told “Fox & Friends” on Friday that the apology wasn’t enough and explained that Bee’s cruel mockery goes beyond him.
“It is kind of a half apology. The effects of this go much further than just insulting me and the illness itself. It’s just inconsiderate and very unprofessional to lump together anyone with a certain hairstyle or by just the way they look,” he said.
“It’s not professional. it’s inconsiderate and it goes beyond me.”
Aren’t “liberals” supposed to be more “progressive” than that?
Perhaps a bigger revelation, was when Coddington admitted to being a registered Democrat when the show hosts outed him. He added that he identifies as a “moderate” and said he had always wanted to go to CPAC.
In other words, Bee’s “conservative Nazi” is really a Democrat cancer patient.
Bee got it wrong on on every level and she should be ashamed, but judging from the paltry apology, maybe not.

Never missing a beat, President Donald Trump retweeted an inspirational segment of Coddington’s interview in support of the young man.
Meanwhile, many on social media agreed with Coddington and didn’t think Bee’s apology was enough.
That’s not the point @FullFrontalSamB. You’re looking at young people and associating them with nazis because of their haircut. Disgusting.

I dunno, maybe you should stop prejudging people who are different than you. I think there’s a word for that… @FullFrontalSamB

@FullFrontalSamB @_that_kyle bottom line you’re a bottom dweller, your show dwells in the gutter of life & you proved it

@FullFrontalSamB @_that_kyle Offensive? Stop with all the Nazi talk. You are disrespecting victims of the Holocaust. There is no comparison!

@FullFrontalSamB From a side that preaches love, inclusion and not stereotyping people, all we have seen is hate and temper tantrums.

@FullFrontalSamB @_that_kyle A real genuine apology is when you say that your were wrong. Not just you may have offended someone.
— kerry (@K1erry) March 9, 2017
@FullFrontalSamB @_that_kyle but it’s cool to call people Nazis based on their haircut if they don’t have cancer?

As President Trump acknowledged, Coddington left things on an inspiring note, saying as far as his health goes, “There’s always a chance.”
