This is journalism in 2017, folks.
White House press secretary Sean Spicer could only respond with laughter at first to a question presented during Wednesday’s press briefing.
Las Vegas Review-Journal’s Debra Saunders launched an inquiry into President Donald Trump’s intention to watch this Sunday’s Academy Awards.
Spicer on if Trump will be watching the #Oscars: “Hollywood is known for rather being farther to the left.” https://t.co/x0OYxocUyU pic.twitter.com/4O0aREd7vV

“The Oscars are Sunday night, will the president be watching? And if there is a Meryl Streep kind of moment, how do you think he’ll react?” Saunders asked. “This has happened at other award ceremonies, why do you think this happens?”
As others in the room laughed, Spicer responded, “Why do I think what happens?”
Saunders clarified that she was questioning why anti-Trump speeches have been occurring on award shows.
“I don’t know, it is a free country,” Spicer replied.
“Hollywood is known for being rather far to the left in its opinions. I have to be honest with you. I think the president will be hosting the Governors Ball that night. Mrs. Trump looks forward to putting on a phenomenal event, and the first lady has put a lot of time into this event that’s going to occur welcoming our governors to the capital. I feel like that is where the president and first lady are going to be focused on Sunday night and so we will go from there,” he said.

Will POTUS be watching the Oscars?
Spicer: POTUS and his lovely wife will be hosting the Governor’s Ball Sunday night. ?— RockPrincess (@Rockprincess818) February 22, 2017
“Will the President be watching the Oscars?” ? This is why we must support non-MSM outlets in the press room. #Spicer

@ShaneGoldmacher @KellyannePolls – it was a really ridiculous question that had no place in a daily briefing

Counselor to the President, Kellyanne Conway’s reaction to Saunders’ questions as she watched off-camera, was notable enough for Politico’s Shane Goldmacher to tweet about it:
As the Oscars question was asked @KellyannePolls literally buried her head in her hand

Many feel your pain, Kellyanne.
