Obamacare isn’t working because it was “built on an edifice of lies.”
That’s the point Senator Ted Cruz hammered home during his CNN debate with self-proclaimed socialist Bernie Sanders.
Cruz said President Obama lied when he promised that if you like your health care plan, you can keep it. If you like your doctor, you can keep him. Your insurance premiums will not go up, Obama vowed.

All those promises later turned out to be lies, as millions of people who enrolled in Obamacare discovered.
“This why people are so unhappy with Obamacare — because it isn’t working,” Cruz said. “Because it was built on an edifice of lies.”

Liberals have slammed President Trump’s decision to repeal and replace Obamacare, saying he wants to deprive millions of people from having healthcare. But that’s not true: Trump wants to provide a better alternative that will give people more choice in health plans with reduced prescription-drug prices.
“The answer is: empower you, give you choices, lower prices, lower premiums, lower deductibles,” Cruz explained.
Senator Sanders criticized the Trump administration for moving to repeal Obamacare without having another viable plan that could immediately replace it.
McConnell reprimands, SHUTS UP Elizabeth Warren on Senate floor: Boy, did she have it coming!
Both Cruz and Senator Sanders agreed that insurance companies have made billions of dollars under the current health care system without providing top-level care at affordable prices.
They also agreed that drug makers have made out like bandits by charging over-the-top prices for prescription drugs that are available in Canada and elsewhere in the world for a lot less.
President Trump has vowed to change all that by replacing Obamacare with a better plan, and by overhauling the health care system so it benefits patients — not corporations. You can see the entire Cruz-Sanders debate below (starting at 7:39).

The reaction on Twitter was sharply divided along party lines, with liberals claiming Sanders won the debate, while conservatives insisted Cruz won.
One person joked that Cruz held his own even though CNN gave Sanders the debate questions in advance, just like they did with Hillary Clinton.

One Twitter user said while Sanders spewed rhetoric, Cruz hurled lethal fact bombs.
Cruz: Facts, facts, facts. Numbers, numbers, numbers. Sanders: There are rich people! And we need to stop them!

Many wondered how self-proclaimed socialist and “champion of the people” Bernie Sanders was suddenly able to purchase three homes and a flashy sports car on a government salary.
