Hours before her big moment singing the national anthem at Friday’s presidential inauguration, Jackie Evancho risked her voice to give a surprise performance for the president-elect.
But the “America’s Got Talent” second place winner cast aside those concerns and decided to sing for Trump and other distinguished guests before the candlelight dinner at Union Station in D.C.
The 18-year-old singer was asked by the Inaugural Committee to surprise the next president by singing “Nessun Dorma,” “The Lord’s Prayer” and “Somewhere,” and she obliged, TMZ reported.
Her team was reportedly very concerned, wanting to preserve her voice for the inauguration on Friday. But Evancho, who has been one of the rare, unafraid, and unapologetic inauguration performers was reportedly happy to do it despite their concerns.
When not singing, Evancho drank tea with honey and engaged in minimal talking to save her voice, they even had the B12 at the ready if needed, according to TMZ.
Because let’s face it, when you’re about to perform on the world stage for the next President of the United States, you need to bring your A-game.
Despite all of the anger directed at her on social media, the singer posted video of one of her performances to her Instagram page on Thursday.
