Trump stealthily ditches press pool and receives ‘hero’s welcome’ during impromptu stop at D.C. hotel

To the thrill of onlookers, President-elect Donald Trump made a surprise visit to his Washington D.C. hotel Wednesday evening to have dinner.

Trump, who ditched the press pool, received “a hero’s welcome” according to the Daily Mail.

“The triumphant entry came after feigning a drive to the city’s Reagan National airport, then ducking the political press corps before turning around to drive to his own hotel,” the British tabloid reported.

Perhaps Trump opted to eat at the hotel because he knew that was one place where he could avoid the media.

Citing respect for the privacy of their guests, Trump International Hotel in D.C. isn’t allowing media on the premises during inauguration week, according to Politico.

And while the media was not on hand, there were “reports” on the impromptu visit on social media.

…including one Florida woman who said Trump made her night great by comping her meal.

Trump had a quick dinner — about 35 minutes — before departing for Reagan National Airport for a return flight to New York.

And while the scene inside the hotel was jubilant, there was full on left-wing circus going on outside the building:
