VA hospital reportedly ignores dead veteran, leaves body in shower for 9 hours!

The situation at some Veterans Administration hospitals is more dire than anyone imagined.

“A disturbing story out of a VA hospital in Florida,” Tapper reports. “In February, staff members at the Bay Pines VA healthcare system moved a veteran’s dead body from his hospice bed to a hallway, and then to an unused shower room where it remained unattended for more than nine hours.”

Dispatchers were not immediately notified, and a “heavily redacted” report said that VA employees “demonstrated a lack of concern, attention, and respect for the veteran and subjected the body to increased risk of decomposition.”

The report also found some employees “falsely documented” the incident after the fact.

Tapper reports that the hospital has retrained staff and taken appropriate personnel actions that included terminations.

In a statement to CNN, hospital representatives wrote, “It is our expectation that each veteran is transported to their final resting place in the timely, respectful and honorable manner that America’s heroes deserve, nothing less.”
