The former CIA operative and congressional aide addressed his concerns in a series of tweets, and based them on Trump’s choice of Exxon Mobil CEO Rex Tillerson to be America’s top diplomat.

“It must be clear that Donald Trump is not a loyal American and we should prepare for the next four years accordingly,” McMullin posted.

He claimed that Trump’s choice of Tillerson will result in the United States becoming aligned with Russia.

Former Gov. Mitt Romney, who was also being considered for the post, referred to Russia as our “greatest geopolitical enemy” during his 2012 White House run.

Stephen Hayes, senior writer for The Weekly Standard and a former “never-Trumper,” said the Senate should proceed cautiously in confirming Tillerson’s nomination.

U.S. Sen. John McCain, the 2008 Republican presidential nominee, called Trump’s pick “a matter of concern” to him. The Arizona Republican added that Tillerson’s confirmation may not go smoothly.

In a telecast that will air Sunday, Trump supported his choice, saying that the energy executive knows the players and has a record of getting things done.
