Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani announced that he took his name out of consideration for the secretary of state position in the incoming Trump administration.
On Saturday Trump used Twitter to make a statement on it.
.@RudyGiuliani, one of the finest people I know and a former GREAT Mayor of N.Y.C., just took himself out of consideration for “State”.

The tweet followed Trump’s statement on Friday where he praised his old friend.
“Rudy would have been an outstanding member of the Cabinet in several roles, but I fully respect and understand his reasons for remaining in the private sector,” he wrote.
Social media reacted quickly, as they usually do when Trump tweets.

@realDonaldTrump Consider splitting Secretary of State job into two positions. The Exxon CEO handling business affairs & Bolton diplomacy.

Some were afraid the announcement meant a Romney pick was imminent.
