It was supposed to be a night out for some comic relief.
Six people were shot Friday night at the Sports in the City Lounge in Bloomfield, New Jersey while comedian Toni Byrd was performing and it was all caught on video.
All of the injured were treated with non-life threatening injuries, NJ.com reported.
Byrd posted about the incident on her Facebook page where she thanked God for the situation not being worse than it was.
Police Director Samuel DeMaio, told NJ.com that authorities believe the shooting was a targeted attack on someone at the club and not a random event.
“We welcomed everyone with a smile, great food, & a good time. Our hearts are very apologetic to those harmed,” the lounge, which was ordered shut down for fire and health code violations in the aftermath of the shooting, posted on Facebook. “Ask those who came there for a good laugh, a bite to eat, or to watch their teams play. Everyone was treated as family once entering the business.”
