Krauthammer: Trump’s within his rights to withhold funding for sanctuary cities, and should

It seems like the obvious answer, doesn’t it?

If certain liberal cities are going to claim to be “sanctuary cities” and set out to purposefully break America’s immigration laws, then these cities should have their federal funds cut off. And that is exactly what Fox News analyst Charles Krauthammer is advising our next president to do.

Appearing on “Special Report With Bret Baier,” Krauthammer ripped into the city governments of those so-called “sanctuary cities” where illegal aliens are protected, coddled, excused from being held accountable for their crimes, and given free stuff all at the expense of the taxpayers, Fox Insider reported.

During the late campaign Donald Trump insisted that he would look into withholding federal funds from cities claiming to be “sanctuary cities” and Krauthammer essentially said that it is time to live up to that promise.

Of course, Krauthammer noted that sanctuary cities were an outrage before Trump came around, but Trump is now in a position to do something about it.

“I think Trump would be within his rights to withhold funds, and he should,” Krauthammer said. “And the Democrats are making a big bet — and a mistaken one — if they decide that they’re going to defy the federal government and what seems to be common sense: Control your borders.”

Interestingly, Krauthammer also pointed out that liberals hated it back in the 1960s when cities in the south flaunted federal law over equal rights. Back then liberals said it was a scandal when certain cities refused to enforce federal law. But now, when it is a law the liberals want to see violated, they have no problem when federal law is purposefully broken.
