CNN’s Jake Tapper was caught off guard in an airport ambush.
Tapper spoke to TMZ reporters who caught him at LAX on Tuesday and asked him why the polls got the election as wrong as they did.
“I think polling needs to be reevaluated a little bit… certainly, there’s a lot of people whose behavior and professionalism this election season should be reexamined,” he said.
The TMZ reporters took Tapper’s comments to mean that he believed the media is to blame for the Trump presidency.
“That’s not what I said. I gave a much more nuanced and intellectual answer than that,” Tapper said.
He added that he did not consider himself to be affiliated with any political party.
“I’m not a Democrat, or a Republican, but hello to my friends at TMZ and have a great day,” he said.
