Trey Gowdy vs Ted Cruz for Supreme Court: take our POLL here
CNN commentator Symone Sanders sarcastically dismissed an incident last week when a mob of young black men attacked an older white man for voting for Donald Trump.
“Poor white people!” Sanders exclaimed.
Sanders, who served as Sen. Bernie Sanders’ press secretary when he was running for president, was participating on a panel along with Trump supporter Carl Higbie, with the discussion centering on the violent protests following last week’s election.
“What do you say to the people who dragged a poor white guy out of a car and beat him?” Higbie asked, after Sanders differentiated between protests and hate crimes.
“Oh, my goodness! Poor white people, please!” Sanders replied, heavy on the sarcasm. “Stop. Stop it, Carl.”
And while she called for peaceful protests, she all but justified the violence in the very same breathe.
“We can’t call for people to be peaceful when the rhetoric that has been used is not peaceful, when people don’t feel peaceful in their homes and we have to reckon with that,” she said.
