In this post-election edition of “Saturday Night Live, ” cast member Kate McKinnon reprised her role as Hillary Clinton on the cold open, giving up comedy to sing the haunting strains of “Hallelujah.”

Leonard Cohen, the song’s composer, passed away Thursday at the age of 82, two days after the former secretary of state’s presidential aspirations died.

When she finished the piece she turned to the audience and said, “I’m not giving up and neither should you.”
