Texas Congressman Louie Gohmert, a reluctant supporter of Donald Trump early on, is calling on the Republican Party to work with Trump on his domestic agenda.
And the Republican lawmaker pointed to President-elect Trump’s much-ballyhooed wall along the southern border as a good place to start.
Appearing on Fox News’ “America’s News HQ” Saturday, Gohmert said he’s not giving up on Mexico paying for the wall, as Trump has repeatedly promised, but said if necessary, Congress should find the money to pay for it.
“Money is either there or it’s grabbable to start the wall,” Gohmert said.
He went on to say it’s imperative that Republicans unite behind Trump to begin the work of “saving America.”
“We have got to do this for the sake of the next generation,” Gohmert said.
“We’ve been given a reprieve,” he insisted. “We need to take it with all the vitality we can and drive this agenda that Trump was elected on home.”
