President Obama called Donald Trump to congratulate him – did he respond with ‘You’re fired?’

President Obama phoned President-elect Donald Trump early Wednesday morning, presumably to congratulate him on his win over his Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton.

The two are set to meet in a few days, Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway reported.

Conway reported the first inkling of their conversation to NBC News’ Katy Tur, who tweeted:

The Associated Press called the election at 1:36 a.m., when Pennsylvania’s 20 electoral votes fell to the Republican column. At that point, the then-GOP nominee needed only 16 to seal the deal.

Given Obama’s heavy campaigning for Clinton in recent weeks, folks on Twitter surmised what had to be going through his head.

Obama trash-talked Trump throughout the hard-fought and often bitter campaign and said that the new president-elect was unqualified to even run a 7-Eleven convenience store at one point.

One observer claimed that the president always took the high road — but he was quickly shot down.

Some recalled Trump’s signature line made famous from his two reality series’ “The Apprentice” and “Celebrity Apprentice.”

But as it turned out, Trump didn’t need any reminding — the words were already engraved in his brain.
