An Ohio singer brought fans at the Toledo Walleyes game Saturday night to their feet after he sang “The Star-Spangled Banner,” and he didn’t cause the excitement by bending down on one knee.
As Joe Everson sang the words to the national anthem and hit every note pitch-perfect, he furiously painted on a large canvas.
After belting out the final phrase, “the home of the brave,” he turned the canvas right-side-up, revealing his rendering of the most iconic flag-raising of the 20th century by a band of brave Americans: The raising of Old Glory atop Iwo Jima during World War II by a group of U.S. Marines.
That’s right — he painted the entire thing upside-down.

The NFL, meanwhile, has been losing fans since San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick began first, by sitting down and then taking a knee during the anthem.
Looks like Toledo’s hockey team won’t have that problem. If anything, they’re going to add to their fan base.
