Trump tweets ‘shackles have been taken off me’ – so, what happens now?

Looking to gain an advantage over a divided Republican Party, Donald Trump took to his familiar social media platform to denounce the leadership of House Speaker Paul Ryan and to say that he can fight his kind of fight now that the “shackles have been taken off.”

Given his performance at the presidential debate Sunday night, that may prove to be a good thing for the candidate.

“It is so nice that the shackles have been taken off me and I can now fight for America the way I want to,” Trump tweeted.

Trump was responding to a conference call Ryan held with House Republicans Monday night where the speaker said he will no longer defend Trump following the release of a video capturing the GOP nominee making sexually charged statements about women, The Hill reported.

And the GOP nominee wasn’t too happy, given how he hammered Ryan as a “weak and ineffective leader.”

In the end, Trump noted that Democrats prove to be far more loyal than Republicans:

For now, Ryan is staying above the scrum, with a spokesman noting that with four weeks to go before the election, the party would be better served if all involved directed their fire at Democrats, according to The Hill.

“Paul Ryan is focusing the next month on defeating Democrats, and all Republicans running for office should probably do the same,” the spokesman said.
