Hillary Clinton campaign spokesman Brian Fallon was shredded after he tried to school the media on coverage of WikiLeaks hacked emails.
Fallon was apparently frustrated that the mainstream media wasn’t towing the Clinton line in reporting on the WikiLeaks releases.
If you are going to write about materials issued by @wikileaks, you should at least state they are product of illegal hack by a foreign govt
— Brian Fallon (@brianefallon) October 11, 2016
Fallon proceeded to instruct what proper Clinton spin should look like, in case the media had forgotten.
Russia actively trying to boost Trump is way more important than how our campaign’s tweets are crafted, but is getting fraction of coverage
— Brian Fallon (@brianefallon) October 11, 2016
Media needs to stop treating Wikileaks like it is same as FOIA. Assange is colluding with Russian government to help Trump.
— Brian Fallon (@brianefallon) October 11, 2016
Wouldn’t it be good reading to see internal discussions abt Trump’s taxes? Yes but Wikileaks isnt targeting Trump. That tells you something.
— Brian Fallon (@brianefallon) October 11, 2016
And he didn’t stop there.
Obviously cannot wish away reporter curiosity in campaign’s inner workings but for God sakes, Roger Stone admitted meeting with Assange
— Brian Fallon (@brianefallon) October 11, 2016
How about probing possibility of Trump associates directly coordinating with Russia and Wikileaks? That is the thing that shd cause chills
— Brian Fallon (@brianefallon) October 11, 2016
Media commentator and former diplomat Richard Grenell had about all he could take and let Fallon have it.
we don’t know that forsure but the bigger issue is that Russia always tries to hack us. WHY DIDN’T HILLARY KNOW THAT? https://t.co/1sgZZ5EWrw
— Richard Grenell (@RichardGrenell) October 11, 2016
“how our campaign’s tweets are crafted” is the new “corruption” https://t.co/iupnJ9w3To
— Richard Grenell (@RichardGrenell) October 11, 2016
that Russian reset really backfired! https://t.co/1sgZZ5EWrw
— Richard Grenell (@RichardGrenell) October 11, 2016
He summed up with a final blow.
. @HillaryClinton gets caught being corrupt…and @brianefallon is worried about saying that “foreign governments” found out first.
— Richard Grenell (@RichardGrenell) October 11, 2016
Fallon, in fact, found himself in a direct Twitter confrontation with WikiLeaks over his comments.
@brianefallon Yes. It tells you that we are an award winning media organization and not ‘hackers’. We don’t “target” anything.
— WikiLeaks (@wikileaks) October 11, 2016
@brianefallon False. Spewing lies does not increase your campaign’s credibility. Who we are is well documented: https://t.co/hgo2xg3ukr
— WikiLeaks (@wikileaks) October 11, 2016
Fallon was noticeably silent following the exchange.
