As the presidential campaign continues and Hillary Clinton drones on about putting putting an end to the Second Amendment, Chicago, the city with some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation, finds dozens of its citizens shot every week. Meanwhile, neither Hillary nor President Barack Obama ever say a word about it.
It was typical Chicago weekend as 35 were shot and five killed in the incessant gang warfare seen in the Windy City. It brings the total of people shot to more than 3,366, the Chicago Tribune reported. Chicago’s violence is so bad that it reached it bloody record as early as Labor Day with over 500 murdered.
This past weekend’s victims ranged in age from 13 to 68 and during one particularly bloody hour on Saturday six people were shot in a six-block area. In another hour on Sunday another four were shot.
Clearly the Windy City’s stringent gun laws aren’t getting the job done. But is the answer to work harder to eliminate the Second Amendment? If so, why isn’t every single area in the nation swamped with 50 people and more being shot every weekend? Why is it only Democrat-controlled cities like Chicago, Baltimore, and Washington D.C. that are experiencing this terrible rise in shooting deaths?
It has gotten so bad in Chicago that one man even began to arrange for his own private police force for his block.
While violent crime had been falling for the last two decades, according to analysis by AEI, crimes rates have been spiking upwards again since 2014. And most of this rise in violent crime is seen in the nation’s big, Democrat-run cities.
Of course, the answer isn’t eliminating our Constitutional Second Amendment rights. The answer is to target gang activity and the illegal drug use that fuels them.
And the way we know it is a cultural problem, not a Constitutional one, is that Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama avoid talking about the problems in Chicago. It’s because they know the problem isn’t “guns.” The problem is that the Chicago Police have been neutered and prevented from attacking the gang problem head on. As protest groups like Black Lives Matter slap restraints on police, shootings have only grown in Chicago to the point where 2016 has become the bloodiest year in over two decades.
