Neil Cavuto helps Trump prove he did NOT support the Iraq war – whips out 2003 clip!

Much has been made of Donald Trump’s “yeah, I guess so” response to Howard Stern on the one-year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks in 2002, when Stern asked Trump if he was “for invading Iraq.”

Predictably, Hillary Clinton hit the Republican nominee hard on that point in Tuesday night’s debate, but this time Trump responded with more than the legitimate but arguable point that “yeah, I guess so” hardly equals a ringing endorsement for endless war.

Trump defended himself from the false attack, prompted by debate moderator Lester Holt, with multiple examples of past statements condemning the war. A few interviews were mentioned specifically, including a 2003 conversation with Fox Business Network host Neil Cavuto.

Cavuto offered up his own proof after the debate closed.

Trump also mentioned someone with whom he argued the issue back in 2003 when the war first began – Fox News host Sean Hannity.

When asked by Washington Post media critic Erik Wemple last Monday, Hannity confirmed that, indeed, the two disagreed strongly on the issue when the war first began.

In an interview on Fox News’ “Mediabuzz” with Howard Kurtz the night before Hannity’s confirmation, Trump insisted that he and Hannity debated the war in private conversations.

“Speak to Sean Hannity, who’s a terrific guy by the way, speak to him, and he and I used to have arguments about the Iraq War,” Trump said. “We used to have arguments about it, big arguments, and you could speak to Sean, and that was before the war started.”

Which is exactly what Wemple did the very next day.

Now, perhaps the Democrats should produce a source or two who says Trump strongly supported the Iraq War besides a lukewarm, off-the-cuff statement to a radio host on the anniversary of 9/11.

They won’t, because they can’t!
