Obama gives Rush Limbaugh highest praise imaginable, blames him for Hillary’s struggling campaign

While praising Hillary Clinton and blasting Donald Trump at a Democratic fundraiser Sunday, President Barack Obama inadvertently heaped praise on conservative author and popular talk radio host Rush Limbaugh.

He may also have criticized himself while he was at it.

Tickets ranged from $25,000 to $250,000 at the event, hosted by restauranteur Danny Meyer and his wife Audrey at their Manhattan residence. The fundraiser was attended by about 65 Clinton supporters, The Associated Press reported.

Obama gave the usual props to Clinton, as well as some digs at her presidential rival.

“This is somebody who is smart, who is tough and, most importantly, who cares deeply about making sure that this country works for everybody and not just a few,” Obama said of Clinton, according to The AP. “And she’s displayed it again and again and again. And when I said that I think she is somebody who is as qualified as any individual who has ever run for this office, I meant it.”

But Trump — not so much.

“And then there’s the other guy,” he said, prompting laughter from the participants. “You all know him because he’s from New York. Some of you may have done business with him. … If you have, it doesn’t sound like it’s been a pleasant experience.”

The president went on to state that the 2016 presidential race will be a real nail-biter, despite what he saw as glaring differences in the qualifications between the two major candidates.

“This should not be a close election, but it will be. And the reason it will be is not because of Hillary’s flaws, but rather because, structurally, we’ve become a very polarized society,” he said, according to CNN Money, begging the question as to why the country has become so polarized.

Eight years of a divisive Obama administration, perhaps? At that point he lauded Fox News Channel and Limbaugh.

“If all you’re doing is watching Fox News and listening to Rush Limbaugh and reading some of the blogs that are churning out a lot of misinformation on a regular basis, then it’s very hard for you to think that you’re going to vote for somebody who you’ve been told is taking the country in the wrong direction.”

Who would have guessed? Rush Limbaugh and Fox are now the most powerful names in news.

In response to Hillary Clinton’s belief that half of Trump’s supporters are racist, homophobic women-haters, Limbaugh offered a line of Clinton “I am A Hillary Deplorable” t-shirts through his EIB Network. As you may expect, they’re selling like hotcakes.
