Just hours after Trump’s ‘birther’ announcement Michelle Obama was ‘waiting to get this off her chest’

First Lady Michelle Obama blasted Donald Trump while she campaigned for Hillary Clinton.

In her first appearance on the campaign trail supporting the Democratic presidential nominee, Obama spoke to students at George Mason University in Virginia on Friday. In a blistering attack on Trump, she said the “presidency reveals who you are,” as she criticized any candidate who “traffics in prejudice, fears, and lies on the trail.”

“So if a candidate is erratic and threatening, if a candidate traffics in prejudice, fears, and lies on the trail, if a candidate has no clear plans to implement their goals, if they disrespect their fellow citizens, including folks who make extraordinary sacrifices for our country … let me tell you that is who they are. That is the kind of president they’ll be,” Obama said.

Speaking just hours after Trump finally announced he believed the president was born in the U.S., Obama addressed the “birther” controversy but still never mentioned the Republican presidential nominee by name.

“And then of course, there were those who questioned and continued to question for the past eight years up through this very day whether my husband was even born in this country. Well, during his time in office, I think Barack has answered those questions with the example he set by going high when they go low,” the first lady said.

“So, we can not afford squander this opportunity, particularly given the alternative,” Obama said, again obviously taking another jab at Trump.  “Because here is what we know: That being president isn’t anything like reality TV. It is not about sending insulting tweets or making fiery speeches.”
