Imagine getting a seven-week, paid vacation each year despite leaving things unfinished at the workplace?
That is what Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren accused Congress of, blasting members of the House and Senate for taking a taxpayer-funded vacation while not delivering any tangible accomplishments.
“This is appalling,” Van Susteren said in her “Off the Record” commentary Tuesday.
“They call it a ‘recess.’ I’m not that stupid and neither are you,” she said. “It’s a vacation, seven weeks, paid for by you.”
She called the lawmakers out for not delivering changes on immigration reform, Obamacare or even simplifying the tax code. Van Susteren mocked their inability to multitask and questioned some congressional leaders who say they use the time off to campaign for re-election.
“If you do a good job, you don’t need to tell your constituents. They all know it,” she said.
“Adding to this, the media excuses this seven-week, paid vacation with the pathetic ‘that’s how it’s always done,'” Van Susteren said. “Really? That makes it OK?
“You should take a vacation only when you have earned it, not when you’re trying to pull a fast one on the American people.”
