Echoing other “conservative” stalwarts like Bill Kristol and George Will, Wall Street Journal Deputy Editorial Page Editor Bret Stephens told CNN’s Fareed Zakaria in May that the only way GOP voters would “learn their lesson” is with a decisive loss to Hillary Clinton.
This line of thinking, of course, has ordinary Americans who love their country wondering what kind of sauce these people have been drinking or whether they’ve just tossed all decency aside and are now actively working with the liberals for the destruction of America.
For his part, Sean Hannity has had enough, and blasted the so-called conservative #NeverTrump crowd on his Wednesday radio show.
“If in 96 days Trump loses this election,” Hannity said, “I am pointing the finger directly at people like Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham and John McCain. I have watched these Republicans be more harsh toward Donald Trump than they’ve ever been in standing up to Barack Obama and his radical agenda.
“They did nothing, nothing — all these phony votes to repeal and replace Obamacare, show votes so they can go back and keep their power and get re-elected. Sorry, you created Donald Trump, all of you. Because of your ineffectiveness, because of your weakness, your spinelessness, your lack of vision, your inability to fight Obama … I’m getting a little sick and tired of all of you. I am, honestly, I am tempted to just say I don’t support any of you people ever.”
From his high tower where he conceivably won’t have to worry about any of Hillary Clinton’s disastrous policies, Bret Stephens responded on Twitter, calling Hannity “Fox News’ dumbest anchor.”
To which Hannity hit back, Trump style:
Hannity is 100 percent spot-on. These hypocrites are perfectly happy to roll over and let every liberal agenda pass with only token resistance, but when someone comes along that could really challenge the status quo, well we can’t have that!
