Mississippi police chief just added something to every patrol car that’s likely to enrage BLM

A black police chief of a small Mississippi town is putting his money where his mouth is and adding stickers to police cars that read “All Lives Matter.”

Edwards Police Chief Torrence Mayfield added the stickers to local patrol cars with financial help from Mayor Marcus Wallace. Edwards is a town of about 1,300 located between Jackson and Vicksburg.

“I mean it shows that they are trying to make steps into the right way,” Jackson resident Jivonrick Butler, told Mississippi News Now. “But I don’t think it’s ever going to be a full acceptance or change like it’s suppose to be.”

Mayfield said he and his department want everyone to feel comfortable asking police for help.

“I sympathize with those who have lost their lives after incidents with police,” Mayfield told WLBT-TV. “And I also sympathize with my brothers in blue that put on a badge and hope and pray that they are able to go home to their families at the end of the day.”

Officers supported the decision to add the stickers to their patrol vehicles, and Mayfield said he’s received strong support from the community.

“‘Blue Lives Matter’ is not going to be welcome by everyone and neither is ‘Black Lives Matter’,” Mayfield said. “You are not going to be able to please everyone, but 100 percent of my officers completely agreed, the mayor agreed and everyone has absolutely loved it.”
