Priest beheaded during mass; parishoners and nuns taken hostage by terrorists in France

Radical jihadists are ramping up attacks both in breadth and brutality.

Just when you thought nothing could shock you anymore comes news of a deadly attack on an elderly priest, while two nuns and several parishioners were taken hostage by “bearded” extremists.

Father Jacques Hamel, 86, was reportedly beheaded after two knife-wielding terrorists crept into a 9am Catholic mass in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray, in Normandy, France, near Rouen, Thursday morning, according to The Sun.

The Sun also reported:

ISIS supporters are celebrating the horrific attack at the church which was reportedly on a terrorist ‘hit list’ which it is claimed French police have known about since April 2015 – following the arrest of an extremist in Paris last year.

One of the unidentified hostages is said to be “fighting for their life” in a local hospital, The Sun reported.

The terrorists repeadly yelled, “Allahu Akbar” during the attack, according to Sky News.

Eulalie Garcia told the Daily Mail that she knew the priest personally and had taught her catechism as a young girl.

“My family has lived here for 35 years and we have always known him,’ she told the Daily Mail. “He was someone who was treasured by the community. He was very discreet and didn’t like to draw attention to himself.”

The horrific incident prompted French President Hollande to come out and announce the obvious:

Hollande’s comments were met with both criticism and skepticism:

Archbishop Dominique Lebrun of Rouen got the news while visiting Krakow, Poland at the same time as Pope Francis the Mail reported.

“I cry out to God, with all men of good will,” Lebrun said. “And I invite all non-believers to unite with this cry … The Catholic Church has no other arms besides prayer and fraternity between men.’
