Black Lives Matter activist Shaun King, who doubles as a “senior justice writer” for the New York Daily News, is calling for an overthrow of the U.S. government if Donald Trump is elected president.
Yes, he STILL has his job.
Any thoughts about the left supporting democracy and the U.S. Constitution are out the window in a comment King posted on social media in response to the “clumsy” coup in Turkey — critics say Turkey President Recep Erdogan staged the coup to justify a major clampdown on opposition forces.
“If Donald Trump becomes President, you are fooling yourself if you think we’re far from having a coup our own selves. I’m dead serious,” tweeted the white man who claims to be black.
King is consistent in falling back on violence in response to Trump, having said in a May 9 article that if the presumptive GOP nominee follows through on his immigration plans, his presidency “looks like a civil war to me.”
In the same article, King said anarchists might support the real estate tycoon because they see “a Trump presidency as a shortcut to mass chaos, protest, dissidence, and anger in our nation.”
Sadly, a smattering of zealots agrees with King’s call for a coup, though the majority of social media have little faith he and his merry band of left-wing misfits can pull off the feat.
Here’s a sampling of responses from Twitter:
@ShaunKing your coup would be a group of teens w/ pink hair and thick frame glasses…I assure u, they would scatter like Lil roaches ?
