This Daily Wire’s editor-in-chief Ben Shapiro pretended surprise at the menbtion of the terrorist’s name.

And others played along.

Although Bouhlel has had run-ins with authorities in the past for petty theft, he wasn’t known to intelligence services or on any terror watch list before his deadly rampage Thursday night, according to USA Today.

As Bouhlel mowed down the screaming throngs of people one-by-one, he is reported to have shouted out a phrase that has become all-too-familiar in acts of terror. The Daily Mail reported:

And like the announcement of his name, no one appeared to be surprised.

CNN reported:

French President François Hollande said Friday that among the more than 100 injured, 50 people were in critical condition, “between life and death.” Staff at the Lenval Hospital in Nice said two children being treated there in the aftermath of the attack had died, and 28 children remained hospitalized.

Hollande described the attack as an “unspeakable act” and vowed that France would “be able to overcome all trials.”

“We have an enemy who is going to continue to strike all the people, all the countries who have freedom as a fundamental value,” Hollande said.

While the media was forced to give the terrorist’s real name, much of the mainstream seemed more than willing to whitewash he horrific terror attack for as long as it could.
